Welcome to Hotel Management School of Hamburg

This page is meant for those who are interested in our school, but not familiar with the German educational system.

The Hotel Management School of Hamburg is an institution of further education for the hospitality industry. It belongs to a variety of associations of similar schools, for example the AEHT and the cooperation of the five major Hotel Management Schools of Germany (DEHOFA). All classes, except foreign languages and our bilingual offers of course, are taught in German. In Germany Hotel Management Schools do not offer academic degrees like Bachelor or Master.

Our students are skilled waiters (Restaurantfachleute), hotel professionals (Hotelfachleute), hotel clerks (Hotelkaufleute) or chefs (Köche/Köchinnen). They have completed a training within the German dual system of vocational training taking two to three years, and they have passed the final exam in their respective profession in front of the Chamber of Commerce in one of the states of Germany. Furthermore they have gained at least one year of professional experience, either abroad or in Germany.

By attending our school they undergo further education that provides them with specific knowledge and skills in management functions within the hospitality industry.

At Hotel Management School of Hamburg they are instructed in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting and Controlling, Organization and Management, Business, Labor and Tax Laws, English (Eurolevels Vantage and Effective Operational Proficiency), French or Spanish (Eurolevel Waystage), Business Communication, Information Technology and Human Resource Management.
Furthermore they choose a special focus for the second year in which they study specific topics from either Catering Management, Hospitality Marketing, Chain-Restaurant Management, Tourism Management or our bilingual offer International Hotel Management (entirely taught in English).
In addition to these compulsory subjects they take courses from a variety of offers, ranging from  Italian to Internet and Trainer's Training.

One of the special features of our school has already been mentioned above: the bilingual branch. Next to the subject English - taught on a very high level - we offer our students with exceptional knowledge of the English language - most of which have gained considerable work experience in the UK or the US - to take Human Resource Management and their focus International Hotel Management in English as well.
